Julie Maitland
Appointed Regional Representative

Julie Maitland was born and raised in the Village of Hazelton on Gitxsan Territory. Julie was first voted onto the Village of Hazelton Council in 2018 and then voted on as Mayor in October 2022. She is part of a multigenerational extended family with deep connections into all parts of the community she has two children who she has raised in the community of Hazelton. Her mother Alice Maitland was the Mayor of Hazelton and part of council for 47 years so she has a long history of witnessing the work of a Mayor attending local, regional and provincial events with her mother over the years, She has worked as a forest technician and for the last 13 years as a Constituency Assistant at the Stikine MLA office helping people access the services they deserve. She sits on several boards and volunteers in many capacities throughout the Upper Skeena, which has given her a rich and diverse relationships and experiences. She loves her community and care deeply for the people who live here. She wants to fight for the services Hazelton community members deserve and wants to work with the neighbouring communities to create more opportunities for local people.
